TRAUMALITY (2026)
Traumality is a feature-length documentary that challenges the way we understand mental health.
Created by filmmaker Ton Mazzone from his own lived experience after years of struggling with anxiety and being failed by the mental health system, the film investigates the growing evidence linking childhood trauma and adversity to many of the mental health diagnoses seen today.
Featuring some of the world's leading voices in trauma, psychology and neuroscience -including Dr Peter Levine, Richard Schwartz, Janina Fisher, Deb Dana, Dr Jessica Taylor, Dr Graham Music and many others. Traumality explores how our earliest experiences shape the developing brain, nervous system and relationships throughout life.
Blending expert insight with deeply personal stories, the documentary examines the science of trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), the limitations of a symptom-focused approach to mental health and the growing movement towards trauma-informed care.
Rather than asking "What's wrong with you?", Traumality asks a different question:
"What happened to you?"
The result is a hopeful, evidence-based film that invites audiences to rethink mental health, challenge long-held assumptions, and imagine a future where healing begins with understanding.
